CherryArts is thrilled to collaborate with Redline to welcome artists from the Reach program to this year’s show, located on Fillmore near 2nd Avenue. Reach was created by two art students from Metro State University in 2009. Both wanted to share the power of art with individuals experiencing homelessness and others in the community who often do not get a chance to express themselves creatively. They began holding workshops through St. Francis Center, engaging clients there in art making. Soon the program found a home in the Community Studio at Redline where it has grown since. Today, Reach is a program where people experiencing financial hardship, are in recovery or who have experienced housing insecurity can engage in a free open studio program that is collaborative and inclusive. Each year of the program will provide professional development workshops, skill building, mentorship, portfolio development support, and earned income opportunities.
